About Us

The story behind SkinCaring Soaps began in 2007 when Stéph, our Founder, decided to seek a new, natural solution for the eczema that bothered her since she was a child.  Frustrated with store-bought and prescription cortisone creams that burned her hands and didn’t help, she decided to take matters into her own hands.  After doing a lot of research, she created some natural salves that soothed her skin.  However, she still had flare-ups; her doctor suggested that her eczema could be caused by the foaming agents found in store-bought soaps.

At that time, she decided she had bought her last bar of soap; she would make her own soaps.  Sure enough, after using her own creations for a while, she hardly had any more flare-ups. (Please note that our products are not approved by the Food and Drug Administration and are not meant to cure skin conditions.  If you have a skin condition, please consult your doctor for medical advice and please be advised of our medical disclaimer.)  Fueled by her curious nature and love of chemistry, she continued to develop new soaps with innovative combinations of ingredients. These are now available to you!  In 2011, SkinCaring Soaps became a Limited Liability Company (LLC) and Stéph opened www.skincaringsoaps.com for business soon thereafter.

True to our name, we aim to make products that care for your body and your skin.  We strive to be completely transparent with our ingredients – we list everything we use in the description for each of our products.

We recognize that no two people have the same skin type.  Therefore, we have formulated a number of unique, well-researched recipes, often with rare and luxurious ingredients, to cater to the needs of different skin types.  We recommend that you change your soap / shampoo from time to time, so that your skin does not become less responsive to the properties of your soap / shampoo.

We seek to use organic ingredients wherever possible. We only use natural vegetable oils. Our Natural Soaps use only natural colorants, essential oils and natural additives. Some of our other soaps incorporate a unique design or shape, use skin safe fragrance oils in a sensible proportion and use pigments or micas that are "naturally occurring". It is worth noting that some people consider these pigments and micas as natural, but we would rather let you make the judgment for yourself.

We NEVER use:

  • animal fats (except milk)
  • foaming agents
  • sodium laureth and sodium lauryl sulfates
  • parabens
  • petroleum
  • mineral oil

Our products are never tested on animals.

Some products are vegan – by that we mean that we are not using any animal products in those items – and these products are always clearly marked as such.  The only non-vegan products we use are milks and honey.

We hope you enjoy our products!
